To find a bike-share bicycle near you, open a map covering your city, enter your location or an address, and check nearby bikes and stations. Before heading out, check the displayed availability, bike type and access conditions.
Think about your destination too: having a bike at departure is not enough if you cannot return it near your destination.
Locate bikes nearby
Start by identifying the services available in your city. A mobility map helps you locate results; rental procedures depend on the service you choose.
If you are unfamiliar with the neighbourhood, search for a specific address: your hotel, a station exit or your current location. If geolocation places you incorrectly, enter the address manually.
Distinguish a station, which groups bikes together, from an individually located vehicle. A station on the map does not mean a bike is available. For a dockless bike, check where you can end the rental.
Check the walking route too. A result across railway tracks or a river may appear nearby but require a detour.

| Information | What to check |
|---|---|
| Availability | Number of bikes reported, when provided |
| Bike type | Mechanical or electric-assist |
| Battery | Reported level, when known |
| Updates | Update time or freshness indicator |
| Operator | Service used to access the bike |
| Return | Available docks or permitted parking at your destination |
Displayed availability is not a reservation. Someone may take the bike while you walk towards it. If reservations are available, wait for confirmation and check how long yours lasts.
Imagine a station three minutes away with one reported bike and another five minutes away with several. The second may offer more choice if you have the extra time. This compares displayed information; it does not guarantee availability on arrival.
Prepare to access the service
Before reaching the bike, make sure you have the required account, access pass or payment method. Check the unlocking fee, any included time and additional charges.
Unlocking may require an app and the vehicle’s QR code. Follow the instructions of the rental service identified on the map.
Once there, compare the bike identifier with your selection. If the bike has a visible problem or unlocking fails, contact the operator’s support before choosing another bike.
Plan where to return the bike
Choose a return location before setting off. For a station-based service, look for free docks when this information is available and identify a nearby alternative station.
For a dockless service, check permitted parking locations. The absence of a dock does not mean you can park anywhere.
On arrival, check that the rental has ended before walking away.
What if no bikes are available?
Expand your search slightly, then compare the walk to another station with your other options. For a short trip, walking directly may be simpler.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to allow geolocation?
It makes searching around you easier. A manually entered address also works when the tool supports it.
Does a station on the map always have bikes?
No. Check availability and the update time, if provided.
Can I rent a bike through every map?
No. A map may only display information. Unlocking follows the rental service’s access procedures.
